Theatre Tech and Design

Yessss!!! I have an exciting new job and I am thrilled about it!! Since the first week of school I have been volunteering at the Theatre Tech and Design Scene Shop. In high school I was stage manager for a few productions but for the rest of them I did set building and painting. It was so much fun. So just recently, I switched my major over to Theatre Tech and Design because I realized how much I really loved it and missed it. As soon as I officially switched to that department they offered me a job. They said that they knew I would eventually realize that this was what I wanted to do for a living. Supposedly the guys even had a poll going on how long it was going to take me to switch over. Anyways, they offered me a job because they love my work. I am beyond thrilled because not only am I getting payed to do what I love but I am also flattered because technically I am not allowed to get payed in the shop until I have one Tech class under my belt. They said they are going to go against the rules so that I could work and get payed for my time. I love it and even when I start classes next semester they are going to try to keep me in the shop as an employee. They said that they will talk to the board about it. Yeeha!!

New Roomie

Well, just a few weeks ago I switched rooms and roommates with a girl on my floor, so I am on the same floor but now I have a new roomie. She is awesome. Don't get me wrong, my last roommate was cool too but because of schedule conflicts there was a little tension there so we decided to do the switch. My new roommate and I get along great and we are becoming even greater friends than we were when we lived down the hall from eachother. There are no more schedule conflicts and everything is running smoothly. She can sleep so heavily (old roommate = light sleeper...the problem) that she can't even tell when I get back from work at 4 in the morning. It works out really well. I love you hon.

Incubus Spot Light

About a week ago I was given the opportunity to do the coolest thing and the scariest thing of my entire life. I was offered to sit in the truss seat for the Incubus concert, here on campus at the Convocation Center, and run the stage left spot light. WOW, that was absolutely terrifying. Getting up there was not the scariest part...getting down was. I was so freaked out to climb down the ladder. In order to get to the truss seat for stage left, I had to climb a fifty foot rope ladder on stage right and then crawl on the truss (WHILE IT IS SWINGING FROM THE CEILING!!!) towards my seat. I think what made it easier for me to climb up the ladder, rather than down, was that their were girls from my floor and other friends in the crowd. They kept cheering me on as I climbed, that really made my night. Thanks Guys!!! Anyways, the view I had from that seat was amazing, I could see the entire crowd and what they were doing. Too bad I didn't have a radio connection with security, I could see where all the fights were in the crowd. That probably would have made their night a lot less hectic. There were four other people up on the truss with me. Two were on the downstage truss and focused on the lead singer all night, one was right next to me at upstage center focusing also on the lead singer, one was upstage right and she focused on the bass and then I focused on the guitarist. What an amazing night. I did get a little spooked, but I would love to go up there again. It did help me start to get over my fear of heights. WOW!!!

My Nephews

Alexander and Christopher Posted by Hello

This is a picture of my two nephews, Alex and Chris. Alex is 3 years old and will be 4 years old in February. Chris is 10 months old. They are cousins and are the love of my life. There is never a dull moment with the two of them because they are so energetic. This past summer I was Chris' nanny three days a week, it was the best job...if you can really call it a job at all!!! Chris can now crawl lightning fast and can be quite a handful for his mommy and my sister, Pauline and his daddy, Todd. They are remodelling a loft in Chicago and because of this, they have to block off certain parts of the house from him. He can also feed himself and is learning to speak his first words. Alex lives in Indianapolis with his mommy and my sister, Amy and his daddy, Micah. He can speak not only English fluently but a little bit of Spanish and Italian. Micah can speak a little bit in both those languages so he is teaching them to Alex. Alex can count to ten and speak some common phrases and words in Spanish. He is also learning some common words and phrases in Italian. One weekend when Alex and his parents were staying at my house for a visit, he started saying "Where are you momma?" in Italian, because my sister had gone outside to get something from the car. It was amazing and very cute to hear him saying that. (Unfortunately, I could not understand what he was saying at the time until my brother-in-law praised him for doing a good job and then translated for me.) I love my nephews, they are the cutest in the world!!! *sniff sniff*, and I miss them!!!
