Incubus Spot Light
About a week ago I was given the opportunity to do the coolest thing and the scariest thing of my entire life. I was offered to sit in the truss seat for the Incubus concert, here on campus at the Convocation Center, and run the stage left spot light. WOW, that was absolutely terrifying. Getting up there was not the scariest part...getting down was. I was so freaked out to climb down the ladder. In order to get to the truss seat for stage left, I had to climb a fifty foot rope ladder on stage right and then crawl on the truss (WHILE IT IS SWINGING FROM THE CEILING!!!) towards my seat. I think what made it easier for me to climb up the ladder, rather than down, was that their were girls from my floor and other friends in the crowd. They kept cheering me on as I climbed, that really made my night. Thanks Guys!!! Anyways, the view I had from that seat was amazing, I could see the entire crowd and what they were doing. Too bad I didn't have a radio connection with security, I could see where all the fights were in the crowd. That probably would have made their night a lot less hectic. There were four other people up on the truss with me. Two were on the downstage truss and focused on the lead singer all night, one was right next to me at upstage center focusing also on the lead singer, one was upstage right and she focused on the bass and then I focused on the guitarist. What an amazing night. I did get a little spooked, but I would love to go up there again. It did help me start to get over my fear of heights. WOW!!!
